Supporting independence, connection, and a better quality of life for people with disability.
The NDIS provides funding for eligible people with disability to enjoy more meaningful time with family and friends, build independence, and engage in work, education, or volunteering opportunities within their communities.
These supports aim to improve overall quality of life and empower participants to achieve their personal goals.
Beyond funding, the NDIS helps connect people with disability to local services such as doctors, schools, libraries, sports clubs, and community groups.
It also provides information about available support from each state and territory government.
More than 500,000 Australians currently benefit from the NDIS, including around 80,000 children with developmental delay.
By providing early support, the NDIS helps ensure children have the best possible start and achieve their full potential throughout life.
Whether you're new to the NDIS or looking to better understand your options, the official NDIS website offers comprehensive information on eligibility, support categories, planning, and more. Visit the site to explore how the NDIS can support your goals and independence.
Find out if you meet the basic criteria to access support through the NDIS.
You must be between 9 and 65 years old. For children under 9, an Early Childhood Partner can guide you through early support options.
You must live in Australia and be an Australian citizen, or hold a Permanent Visa or a Protected Special Category Visa.
You must have a permanent impairment that substantially affects your daily life and usually requires ongoing support.
If you don’t meet the disability criteria, you may still be eligible if early support could reduce future needs or assist your family—especially for children under 6.
